Did you know?

The Platypus is stranger than you think.

Platypuses have no nipples.  After the young hatch, the mother oozes milk from the pores all over her body.

The male platypus has a poison barb on the inside of its hind legs.  The purpose of this weapon is uncertain.

While often compared to the beaver, the platypus is only about 20 inches in length -- more comparable to the size of the muskrat.

The Platypus bill is actually just an elongated muzzle covered with much the same kind of tough skin found on a dog's nose.  This bill contains an electrically-sensitive organ that can detect the electrical signatures of the small aquatic animals it eats.

National Acadamies Press - http://darwin.nap.edu/

Many of their publications are published on-line, although in most cases one has to purchase the reports.  Nevertheless one can read the documents on-line.

Sorrow about the end of NASA missions to the Space. Since early 60-ties we got used to that NASA presence in Space, struggling for the independence of their researches together with them. We got used to these "smokes" in States and their balancing responce in USSR, by " Bajkonur". Got used to NASA helping and controlling satellites, air traffic, meteo works, laboratories of all types all over the world. Engine problems in car factories all over the world. solutions for the greediness for the most modern inventions, as wel as for clever resigning of them. To NASA with their white uniforms, guarding the irreplaceable Law of the Space on Earth and Arround, which were guaranteed by the Statue of Independance; guarding the undeniable Computer Law. Object of hidden sighs of young people and children all over the world, object of secret callings when things go wrong; one of that big and right forces on the planet, which are guarding her and her natural habitants, saving for us the future. The most beatiful films of the wildlife. Their love to the nature, animals, plants. Their artistic expressions of their true and honest characters. Excitement and tears, when they were setting off, and desperation from their failures. Why we were struggling so hard? to whom we wanted to show we would be doing that? Is this really end of NASA missions? Can they change "the researches" or "exploration" to "peacefull discoveries" which will better show the humanity place in the Universe? For years we were showing this way we can defend ourselves even if danger returns to us from space. The world without NASA? There is no accordance to that. Let's no joke.Spaceconstructor.
