This site is great when you're short on ingredients, and really need a drink:

www.idrink.com/ (http://www.idrink.com/)

Click on "Your Ingredients", check all the boxes of the stuff you've got on hand, and then click "Find Recipes".

Title: Pan-Galactic Gargle Blaster
Post by: calliarcale on July 15, 2001, 03:37:00 PM
Well, according to this electronic book I found on Betelgeuse 6, the Pan-Galactic Gargle Blaster is the best drink in existence.  Here's a recipe from the Project Galactic Guide, modified to use only Terran ingredients.

------------------------------------------------------------------------
CUT AND PASTE
------------------------------------------------------------------------

Take the liquid contained in a 200 ml bottle of EverClear to remind you
that your head will be clear forever if you drink too many Pan Galactic
Gargle Blasters, and that your brain will clear of anything soon after
you start drinking some, if not before.

Into it, slowly pour a 750 ml bottle of Bombay Sapphire to remind you
of the marvelous beauty of the old Santraginean seas, or an equal amount
of Jeremiah Weed in acknowledgement of what has happened to the
Santraginean Seas and their lifeforms.

Now add 750 ml of Cold Wild Turkey, letting it run into the mixture as we
run through life to remind us of all the lifeforms we meet and experience
while hitchhiking through the galaxy.

Speedily stirring, add 375 ml of Herradua Tequila, mixing it in to
commemorate the galactic hitchhikers who died of pleasure among the
vapors and gasses in the marshes of Fallia.

Over the bowl of a silver spoon, let flow 1 liter of rum in memory of
the waterfalls and their glorious rainbows encountered on your journeys
through the galaxy of life.

Next, drop in the worm found in a bottle of Musquil, watching it dissolve
into the mixture.  If the bottom falls out and the worm survives, drink
at your own risk.

Finally, sprinkle into the mixture some Gatorade to commemorate the
lifeforms which have vanished and are becoming extinct, both sentient and
non-sentient, especially those most in need of aid.

If this many Pan-Galactic Gargle Blasters are too many for the number of
people you think you are, mix together the following amounts of
ingredients as described above for a single serving.

         1) 1 oz. EverClear
         2) 4 oz. Bombay Sapphire or Jeremiah Weed
         3) 4 oz. Cold Wild Turkey
         4) 2 oz. Herredura Tequila
         5) 5 oz. Rum
         6) 1     worm from bottle of Mezcla
         7) 2 oz. Gatorade

This makes one approximately 18 ounce Pan Galactic Gargle Blaster.  The
reason this drink seems so large is that Zaphod Beeblebrox has two heads,
so when he created it, it came out to 9 ounces per head, so both were
happy.

Before drinking, eat one olive to create a sweetness in it which is not
there.

Drink very, very extremely carefully at your own risk, and remember where
your towel is (if you can).

This is known to have sporific qualities:

Dogs Nose

3 cups porter, 2 sprigs wormwood, 1 teaspoon freshly grated ginger (or moore, to taste), 2 tablespoons sugar, 1/4 cup gin, 1 whole nutmeg.

combine the porter, wormwood, ginger and sugar in a saucepan.  Bring to a boil.  Remove from heat, stir in the gin, pour into tankards and dust with freshly grated nutmeg.

We do a Xmas eve eve (night before Xmas eve) GLUGG party for the adults here. (our kids are grown and out of the house)

GLUGG:

one liter Capt Morgan Spiced Rum (or more)
four liters apple cider
one liter pineapple juice
1/2 liter orange juice
some raisins
sliced fruit (oranges, limes, lemons, pineapple chunks)
some cinnamon sticks
some cloves

About an hour before the guests arrive put all of the above except the rum into a crock pot and heat. (let it get hot) Add the rum about the time they are due and stir. Serve. (bah humbug)
Rum will cook away thats why you add it last (or the "or more" you keep adding to it) but eat the fruit as you go along it gets loaded with rum

How we handle the heat here in Phoenix:

Take your floating chair....put it in the pool
Take your favorite gin (I like Bombay Sapphire) put in plastic cup (never use glass around the pool) add ice and lemonade. Garnish with a lemon slice.
Float in pool and enjoy!
Will allow you to handle the 110F (40C) with no problem!

I don't know about 'gluhwine' but.
--Take red wine!
--Make it almost boil!
--Add sugar (not that much)!
--Add parts of apples and oranges!
--Let it stir 5 mn!
--Drink!

Results:
-You can't help drinking it,hmm so good!
-You feel hot in that cold winter night!
-Making it around a bonfire (a thought for Bon Scott here!Salute!) and it's perfect.

PLC - I do something very similar to vishniac's recipe but in addition to the apples/oranges I also add a handful of cloves, a few cinnamon sticks, and some nutmeg.  Very yummy after a hard day of skiing!

This part is the slowest, so it may seem the place is deserted...but it's far from that!

Of course this might be the slowest forum, people sometimes do not want to part with their favorate recipies.

Accual recipy I had the horror of running into when living near Seattle.

1 lb Starbucks Coffee
1 case Dr. Pepper
2 litter 100 proof Vodka

Empty case Dr Pepper in large pot.  Add coffee.  Heat to just about bubbling. Let simmer for 15 minutes.  Filter through coffee filters to remove coffee grounds.  Add Vodka, serve to students studying for tests at Microsoft Collage.

Talk about getting a jolt.

To celebrate Pete's success in the java test everyone is invited to try this:

Bilí:
20-30 Quenepas (Spanish Lime, Genip,Melicoccus bijugatus,Melicocca bijuga from the family of Sapindaceae )
3/4 cups sugar(optional)
1 litre white rum

In an empty rum bottle (or other suitable container) stuff the quenepas after peeling them.  Add the sugar (if you want to) and the rum. Cover with  plastic or cork cap (not metal) and let stand for 3 to 4 weeks shaking slightly every day.

This is the official beverage of the Vieques Island patron saint festival.

Title: Hooyaaa!
Post by: Peter on October 18, 2002, 08:15:00 AM
WOW! After all those years of being seated behind the desk eating junkfood, I guess I will need my sister her knowledge of fruits for this one!

Sound extremely yummy! ..and the fact that you have to prepare it so much time in advance will make it extra special. Every day you get to look at it, and think in advance for the celebration that the drink is intended for!

Thanks for the gem Engaaraa!

Peter

It's an awsome drink. Quenepas are a delicious little fruit with sort of an adictive flavor. Once you taste one, you can't stop until you've eaten them all. And with white rum and aged, well, it's the kind of drink that you never remember exactly what you did the last time you had it...8) (http://www.data-techniques.net/cwm/otn/ez/ezpi_cooldude.gif )8)
