I was born in Rochester, MN, and lived there until right after 2nd grade when my dad got laid off from IBM.  We ended up moving to Longmont, CO -- an ugly little town that's growing way too quickly.  Oh well, the mountains were pretty.  And anyway, after being laid off of the first job he got there, he found a second one in that town, so we could stay there.  Sometime during 5th grade, though, we decided we wanted to move back to Rochester -- lots of reasons, but one of them being that my older brother was a year away from high school and my parents wanted him to go to a Catholic high school (the nearest one was in Denver, but there's one in Rochester).  So my dad got a job here and we moved back.  And my dad, once again, got laid off.  Again.  Thankfully, that company that he quit from has a facility near Minneapolis, so he got a job there.  Whew.  So it's not exactly my life story, seems more like my dad's.

Oh, and guess what Calli?  My dad went to St. Olaf too -- a long time ago.

I'm actually a fourth-generation St Olaf student.  My dad was class of '72, my mom was class of '73 and my grandma attended for three years back in the 40s before transferring to the University of Minnesota.  (She wanted to go to the same school as her new beau, who is now my grandpa. ;) (http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/images/emoticons/wink.gif );) )  So in honor of there being one other person on this forum who has actually heard of St Olaf.....

We're talking about forged, who posted a thread "A tidbit for the Guardians of Orthodoxy (GOO)" under "Space Science & Astronomy" back at uplink.space.com.

forged is rather unique.  He is a pre-teen boy with an amazingly good vocabulary and grasp of debating tactics.  He could make a very shrewd politician someday, and I really hope that doesn't happen.  He has a very poor grasp of science but a rock-solid faith in his own views.  He loves to make people furious, and is very very good at it.  When he last invaded the board, the only weapon that proved effective was ignoring him utterly.  He thrives on attention.  When he doesn't get any attention, he leaves.

Hello all. I have been with my crack team of developers for the past few days, and am happy to report that the latest weapon in the fight against bozo's is nearing completion. The Nobozo 1300 is currently in the testing phase. I have had a bit of trouble finding volunteers (understandably) but hope to have the project go beta within the next week. I shall keep you all posted. In the meantime, all weapons officers stand by for training materials which are being printed as we speak.[P]Peace out.

As the NoBozo 1300 will be our first attempt at non-consumable type Ia weaponry, I will need to confer with you on the design and possible implications.

Just got back from the WANII, doing some preliminary weapons testing. I am currently awaiting results. TomSheehan, Ezrakind and PO were my subjects.

Any chance some Borg technology could be used? Maybe add some nanoprobes to the mix to assimilate any survivors of the blast... if they survived, they may be useful to the collective.

Seemed logical to fight illogic with illogic. The results are not in yet, but preliminary reports indicate that the NoBozo 1300 should be quite effective in, if not eliminating, at least humbling said bozo's.[P]Time will tell.

Simply questioned the S/N ratio and asked how ANY conclusion was possible.  I'd actually be thrilled to find unambiguous evidence of ETI in our solar system, but get tired of believers who see artifacts in every mesa and rockpile.  I want people who have no preconceptions (who are the folks we're trying to protect from pseudoscience, right?) to think about it and get better at discriminating for themselves between evidence and belief systems.

Yeah, finally!! I got some seeing in on Tuesday evening, pretty humid, but I finally got to see Sagittiaris, Where is rises, there is a street lamp, but it is pretty high in the sky!! I think I seen a few of the nebula's that are there!! I wish I could see Andromeda, where it rises, there are tons of trees and houses, maybe later this year when it peaks higher in the sky!!! Hoping to do some seeing tonight!!!!  Hope your star parties are doing well!!!

Well, I certainly have had a great time infiltrating the bozo camps these past couple of days, but it is time for me too to take a little down time.  Everybody here knows that people who the majority of current members would probably classify as bozos will show up.  There are also appropriate means here to deal with those who violate the rules of the board.  Basic containment is possible with the ability to move threads to appropriate subject areas. Really nasty people will quickly lose their posting priveledges.  Not the cozy little club we started with, but we don't want to live in a bunker, do we?

  While it will make more work for the administrators of this board, surely this was anticipated.

  And, sorry, but before I read your posts through, I told the person to come on over, as long as he or she is prepared to be reasonable, and he or she might find more tolerance than anticipated.

I have activated the failsafe device on board my TARDIS, placing it into a non-event state which will remain fundamentally unchangeable until the end of Time, or until I disable the failsafe, whichever comes first.  The wormhole is covered by this failsafe device, thus preserving the integrity of both TARDIS and wormhole.

The downside is I can't use any of the onboard systems while the failsafe is activated, so I can't play any of my Alan Parsons CDs until this emergency is over.

As I must maintain my physical presence outside of BozoSpace (due to uncontrolled Bozerk shapeshifting when exposed to B/F), I need to be informed as to the nature of the BozoSpace pending disaster.

Cpt Payloadcontroller, I believe I may be able to stabilize the situation if the bozo mass does reach critical levels.  By creating a space-time envelope around the sector, I can then time-loo the quadrant's "littoral," so to speak, and put the uplink.space.com spacetime event into a Vortex embolism.  This would stabilize the sector against practically anything.

On the other hand, if allowed to collapse, the singularity could be used as a duplicate Eye of Harmony, thus providing the WAN III with a theoretically infinite power source!

I shall monitor the situation and explore both options for feasibility.

The whole sector over in Space.com is out of hand.  I see no way to bring them back from the brink of disaster.  I believe all we can to is pull back, set up the recording devices and analyze the collapse of Space.com.  Is there anyway to estimate the chances of the Bozo Flux reducing itself before the implosion?

I crossed over and fired a volley of 'ritos but I'm unsure about the effect.  Long range scans of other threads reveal plans the PO was leaving the Space.com sector for a while until things calm down.  Just like the coward he is, re create havoc and runs away until the dust clears.  I'm really not liking him.

As you know, my duties on the WAN III are in addition to my responsibilities as "Yales, Supreme Leader 3rd Galactic Quadrant".

One of my more minor activities is to maintain the black hole at the center of your pathetic little galaxy. In the weeks that I have been absent from galactic center, major mass in-falls have created an unstable condition. It is necessary for the safety of the pathetic lifeforms strewn thru this low-rent spiral that the galactic core be quiescent.

I am requesting shore leave for the next week to do the repairs.

As a side benefit, I shall re-charge my EnviroSphere with gravitic potential energy. As of late, I have been utilizing the incredible chemical energy of EverClear for life-support and propulsion. This has had strange effects on others and lowered my already low coherence level.

I've been popping in from time to time, trying to remain civil and answering questions here and there.  So far, flame artists haven't bothered me, although that's probably because I'm not as prominent as you and yales.

One thing that I *have* noticed - there are more and more half-coherent poor typists with "theories" to expound.  Phlogiston.  Magic.

           I put my two cent's worth in ,but I see people still insist on engaging ezrakind.  It is getting worse over there, and WE are part of the nastiness if we continue mudwrestling with that type of poster.  Ranters like ezra are plainly not credible posters and so I repeat my assertion that ignoring them is harmless.  Just monitor.

   IMHO, It is the coherent bozos who are more likely to cause real mischief if they go unchallenged.  Not a lot of choice about engaging in some of these cases, but even truly nasty types often lose interest if they are ignored.  If you don't see responses to a bozoid, it probably isn't neccesary to jump in.

Dingo'1 report from the USS Jobhunting...not much luck so far...just a few sessions in the land of the Head hunters, they are out on acqisions of those very hard to find individuals called Jobs in my feild.  They have found trails of there passage, but have yet to capture one for me.  I slim pooibilty of one is located on the Capt. Home planet, but looks like it has hidden itself well.  Hunting parties have been dispached to the other side of the Galaxy in the region of Spaec called Indonesia and Singapore for this puppy dogs G/F currently resides on her home planet of Jakarta, and she has been in contact with that planets's head hunting tribes.  Will report again next communication cycle of 7 solar days with an updated report.
Maybe with the help of the crew, we can convince the HQ in Space.com that they could hire me for the post of moderator, as long as they can provide the denarro's.  Other than that, about 400 communicades have so far been sent out so far

I tried to use the Ezboard search engine,but with poor results.
