Post by: Astronuc on May 31, 2005, 12:04:08 PM
A relevant subject for warm and hot weather months when more people are outdoors and at risk of insect borne diseases.

DEET (http://www.epa.gov/pesticides/factsheets/chemicals/deet.htm)
eucalyptus oil (http://www.epa.gov/oppbppd1/biopesticides/ingredients/factsheets/factsheet_011550.htm)

Picaridin (http://www.findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m0PDG/is_1_3/ai_113650073), a piperidine derivate, is a new insect repellent.  It is the active ingredient in Cutter Advanced.  There is no EPA datasheet yet.

I remember at least one government study that found garlic to be an effective mosquito repellent.  Now, according to legend, garlic is also useful for keeping vampires away.  Coincidence?  I think not! :devil.gif:
