If the orbital period of an asteroid around the Sun is 2.8 years, what is its semi-major axis in A.U.s?

T = 2*pi*sqrt(a^3/GM)

that will do it. again no further time

GMsun = 1.327 * 10^11 km^3/s

so: a = 2.97 * 10^8 km

1 AU =~ 150 000 000 km

a = 1.98 AU
