Did you know?

The Platypus is stranger than you think.

Platypuses have no nipples.  After the young hatch, the mother oozes milk from the pores all over her body.

The male platypus has a poison barb on the inside of its hind legs.  The purpose of this weapon is uncertain.

While often compared to the beaver, the platypus is only about 20 inches in length -- more comparable to the size of the muskrat.

The Platypus bill is actually just an elongated muzzle covered with much the same kind of tough skin found on a dog's nose.  This bill contains an electrically-sensitive organ that can detect the electrical signatures of the small aquatic animals it eats.

"International King Of Sports"
« on: April 14, 2004, 06:47:40 AM »
I saw a clip of this British TV show in Japan a couple of nights ago and was trying to find more information.

Events include
"Bobbage" - Diving into a pool while trying to keep your hair dry.
"Headlong Dive" - Like a long jump but you have to dive headfirst into the sand pit and they measure to the tips of your fingers.
"Underwater shot-put" - Need I say more?
"Downhill slalom running" - Like ski slalom but without snow.
"Swim tug of war" - Two competitors tied together swim for all they're worth.
"Men's fall down" - competitors stand up over a crash mat and at the sound of the whistle, they fall down as fast as possible.  The first one to slam his head into the mat wins.
"Backwards 200m" - More diffiicult than it sounds.
"Tennis Whack" - Hit a ball into the air.  The longest time before touchdown wins.

Found a couple of articles to whet your appetites.
