Did you know?

The Platypus is stranger than you think.

Platypuses have no nipples.  After the young hatch, the mother oozes milk from the pores all over her body.

The male platypus has a poison barb on the inside of its hind legs.  The purpose of this weapon is uncertain.

While often compared to the beaver, the platypus is only about 20 inches in length -- more comparable to the size of the muskrat.

The Platypus bill is actually just an elongated muzzle covered with much the same kind of tough skin found on a dog's nose.  This bill contains an electrically-sensitive organ that can detect the electrical signatures of the small aquatic animals it eats.

today in the paper: more americans watched the superbowl than will vote for the presidential election  [smiley=shocked.gif]

I guess that will be the same here if Holland makes it to the final of the European football championships.

It's an illusion to think we live in a democracy. We get to use our democratic powers only once in 4 years, but every day, we just do what we're told to do.

....or we decide for ourselves

The Earth is by far the most colourful place in the solar system. in the visual range that is. But then, that's probably the reason why we see in the visual.

I'm rather curious as to why we call anagrams, well, anagrams, when the word isn't one...

Etymology: probably from Middle French anagramme, from New Latin anagrammat-, anagramma, modification of Greek anagrammatismos, from anagrammatizein to transpose letters, from ana- + grammat-, gramma letter.

from Merriam Webster Online
Peace on Earth, and Goodwill to all Peoples, each day, every day, ad infinitum.

Joy to the World, All the boys and girls now, Joy to the fishes (and mammals too) in the deep blue sea, Joy to You and Me. - Three Dog Night

The personal joy I receive, when a little child looks at me and asks, "why is the sky blue?"

And, of course, I reply, "Rayleigh Scattering."

I GOT to learn to shut up...   :rollin
