This is a reminder to all ES members, there is a lunar eclipse happening during the early morning hours of 28 August here in the Americas. The eclipse begins at 2:52am CDT (7:52 UTC), when the moon starts to enter the penumbral edge of the Earth's shadow. The partial phases begin at 3:51am CDT (8:51 UTC), totality begins at 4:52am CDT (9:52 UTC), midpoint of eclipse is at 5:37am CDT (10:37 UTC). Totality ends at 6:23am CDT (11:23 UTC), partial phases end at 7:24am CDT (12:24 UTC), and the entire show ends at 8:22am CDT (13:22 UTC), when the moon slips out of the penumbral fringe of the Earth's shadow. Good luck to all, who gets to see da show! :1thumbup

I don't have much sky to see here because of trees, but this one was in perfect view all evening (in Oz). Have been watching it for hours. Was utterly magnificent!

The weather here in N.O. for the eclipse was perfect, but due to the viewing geometry, I wasn't able to see the eclipse through out its entirety, due to the fact the moon set while the eclipse was in progress, but at least I was able to see the partial phases leading up to totality, and was able to see most of totality, before the sky became too bright and rendered the totally eclipsed moon invisible. Now I am ready and waiting for the next lunar eclipse on 20 Febraury 2008, which here in N.O., I will have ringside seats for that show, for the entire eclipse from start to finish will be visible. Hopefully the weather will cooperate for that upcoming show.
