Did you know?

The Platypus is stranger than you think.

Platypuses have no nipples.  After the young hatch, the mother oozes milk from the pores all over her body.

The male platypus has a poison barb on the inside of its hind legs.  The purpose of this weapon is uncertain.

While often compared to the beaver, the platypus is only about 20 inches in length -- more comparable to the size of the muskrat.

The Platypus bill is actually just an elongated muzzle covered with much the same kind of tough skin found on a dog's nose.  This bill contains an electrically-sensitive organ that can detect the electrical signatures of the small aquatic animals it eats.

Hello
« on: May 20, 2009, 03:30:22 PM »
I just wanted to let you guys know I'm sill alive. :elkgrin.gif:
Funny story- In searching for this site just now I made the mental mistake of thinking it was still called "Everything Space". So I entered that in the search engine and 7th down the list there it was. However, I landed in a very very strange land, way down under if you know what I mean. My initial thought was another old hijack and started looking for the old moderator's emails. Then I sort of remembered it was now "Everything Science" and looked again. It was a very nice feeling to find this is still here.

I'm very sorry that I have not been able to participate more often. I went to the GCSP and met Skyjim last year. Was sad to find it's almost June again and I never had a chance to tell that story here like it deserves. And a whole year has gone by...

I used to have a lot of trouble logging in here, way more than reasonable. But I'm on Broadband now and it really flies!(sp?)

My Dam project (no pun intended, really  ;D ) is almost over and I hope I'll have more time to participate in the near future.
See ya later dudes! keep up the good work!
